Corrugated iron sheeting for Pakistan

Wintry weather has descended on Pakistan. After the earthquake, it was cold and damp and blustery. During the day it was ten degrees, at night below five. Now temperatures have dropped well below zero. Immediately after the disaster struck, Deutsche Welthungerhilfe (German Agro Action) concentrated on erecting temporary shelter made of corrugated iron sheeting and brick walls rather than tents.
Tents would be unable to bear the weight of snow in the winter and, measuring only 16 square metres, they are also too small for large families. The corrugated sheeting is nailed to a substructure made of wood. Flat headed sheet metal nails will be purchased on the local market in Pakistan.
Thanks to generous donations, German Agro Action has been able to buy 60,000 corrugated iron sheets. These are produced in Pakistan and can therefore be delivered quickly to earthquake victims in affected areas. A goods inspection company appointed by German Agro Action is responsible for monitoring and controlling quality. The galvanised steel sheets measured 2.50 x 1.00 m and are 0.37 mm thick.
