Aimed at the Future – Challenges Facing Aid Organisations

Globalisation is the description for the accelerated economic interdependency of almost all countries in the world. Global issues are becoming increasingly important: both in political dialogue and also in public debate. The effects of military, political, ecological and economic crises do not stop at national borders.

For organisations participating in development aid three processes are important: the strong influence of the global economy based on the market economy, the growing importance between intergovernmental and supranational authorities and the growing attention devoted to cross border issues.

Today aid organisations have to make strategic decisions for tomorrow and define crucial points: in which countries should work be carried out in the future? Which crucial promotion points should be expanded? Which issues should be in the foreground?

These decisions not only determine the courses set for partnerships with other organisations in the North and South but also the hiring of qualified personnel. Future tendencies must be estimated with foresight and experience in order to be able to effectively and sustainably work.
