Annual Report of Welthungerhilfe 2007
Rural and regional development
All developing countries should finally be given unlimited access to the markets of industrial countries! Welthungerhilfe released almost 50 million euros for measures to support rural development. (2008)
In 2007 Welthungerhilfe was once again awarded the donations seal by Germany’s Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI) and yet again came amongst the top four winners of theTransparency Prize, an award given to charity organisations by the auditing company, PricewaterhouseCoopers. In the face of continued high food prices, Welthungerhilfe is calling for long-term changes in agricultural policy to help farming in developing countries. Additional funds, announced by the OECD, should be for the benefit of smallholding farmers as relevant to the country in question.
