Disaster Risk Management
As the number of disasters has increased worldwide, disaster risk management is becoming more important in the context of sustainable rural development. This manual synthesizes Welthungerhilfe`s Nicaraguan experience in disaster risk management.
It is an effort to make it applicable to other projects, and therefore strengthens the integration of risk management into Welthungerhilfe and its local partners’ projects. It presents a selection of measures, ready for delivery to projects dealing with natural phenomena or effects of climate change. These measures have been tested for over ten years in north-western Nicaragua, in a region highly vulnerable and frequently threatened by natural hazards.
