Welthungerhilfe in fragile states
Fragile states are the focus of governmental and non-governmental development cooperation. Welthungerhilfe also spends a large part of its financial resources on work in these countries. (2010)
However, experience in the past few years has shown that beyond alleviating suffering in the short term, little substantial progress has been made to date in countries with poor governance. In most cases, attempts to promote sustainable development processes have failed because of the extremely complex challenges presented by states without functioning political institutions and with often precarious security conditions.
