Sierra Leone: Final Evaluation

Food Security and Economic Development Project in the Bo, Pujehun and Kenema Districts (FoSED)

The overall objective of the project was to enable vulnerable groups living in the rural areas including border zones to the Gola Rainforest Reserve and Tiwai Island to improve their livelihoods in a sustainable manner.

The aim was to do so with the help of economically viable and environmentally sound agricultural and forestry practices.

The usual agricultural practices of the peasant farmers showed low production and productivity, partly due to a completely arbitrary and unfair rural commercialisation system, where traders generally deceive the illiterate small-scale farmers regarding weight, price and quality devaluation.
