We are not born with the ability to act with the whole world in mind. Cosmopolitanism, respecting others and putting yourself in other people's shoes – everyone has to learn these skills, ideally from an early age.
The educational concept "Global Learning" encourages children and teenagers to look beyond themselves: Our world should not be divided up into the First, Second and Third Worlds. Everyone should be equal and live together in peace.
The concept of "Global Learning" teaches skills across the disciplines. Educators and pupils work on topics such as peace, equality and human rights in various projects. The lessons do not just take place in the classroom but also in hometowns, in the local environment and in nature. Children and teenagers learn to view the world from a global perspective in various settings.
Welthungerhilfe is bringing the educational concept of "Global Learning" into the classroom. Its staff members are active and networked with one another around the world. Thus Welthungerhilfe is able to establish contact between pupils here and their peers in our project countries. Advisors from Welthungerhilfe also meet with school classes to discuss different lifestyles here and around the world, as well as solutions for hunger and poverty. Welthungerhilfe provides teaching materials so that educators can structure their lessons.
