Structure of Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e.V.
On 27th November 2008 the biggest structural change took place at Welthungerhilfe since its founding in 1962. Welthungerhilfe is now no longer managed by an honorary board of directors, but by an executive board of directors.
The honorary Supervisory Board comprises seven members. The main task of the Board is to supervise and advise the board of directors. Its President is the mayor of Bonn, Bärbel Dieckmann, and her deputy is Klaus Töpfer, the former Environment Minister and manager of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
The new executive board of directors runs Welthungerhilfe's affairs. It comprises three members: the secretary general (chairperson), a director Programmes Department, a director Marketing Department.
The General Assembly decides on the guidelines for the activities of Welthungerhilfe and is responsible for electing the supervisory Board.
The President of the Federal Republic of Germany is Patron of Welthungerhilfe. Since 2010 Christian Wulff holds the position.
The honorary Board of Trustees and Welthungerhilfe's Programme Advisory Committee advise Welthungerhilfe's Board of Directors.
