The strongest typhoon in the world this year and possibly the most powerful ever to hit land hits the Philippines, forcing more than a million people to flee, flooding villages and raising fears of widespread casualties. More than 11 million people on the Philippines are in need of humanitarian help.

During the course of the week, additional experts in fields including logistics will be dispatched to support the coordination of the aid measures. The Welthungerhilfe has many years of experience in emergency support in the aftermath of large catastrophes such as in Haiti or following the tsunami.

As part of the Development Helps Alliance, the Welthungerhilfe is calling for donations for the victims of the devastating typhoon in the Philippines.
