Millions of people in Syria, Turkey and Lebanon have been affected by the war in Syria and by the effects of the so-called Islamic State’s (IS) rule. Almost half of the entire Syrian population was displaced by the fighting. After years of violence, an end is still not in sight. Welthungerhilfe is providing emergency aid to Syrian civil war victims.
As the conflict in Syria continued and the humanitarian crisis worsened, Welthungerhilfe has adapted a more comprehensive approach, which aims to strengthen the resilience of people affected by the conflict. In both Turkey and Syria the objective is to increase the food security of displaced Syrians and host communities working in four main sectors: Emergency aid, protection & social integration, agriculture and WASH.
