Food fortification study 2014

A “techno-fix” or a sustainable solution to fight hidden hunger?

Study on eliminating micronutrient malnutrition: According to FAO, approximately two milliard people worldwide do not consume enough micronutrients. Vitamins and minerals such as iodine, iron, and zinc are, however, essential for one’s health.

A shortage of micronutrients can lead to malnutrition in the same way that undernourishment can – with disastrous consequences in particular for women and children in developing countries. This study marks the beginning of the new international series of reports "On the future of global relations", which Welthungerhilfe and terre des hommes will publish in German and English.
